As a parallel forum of the 31st Academic Annual Conference of the Chinese Society of Technical Economics, the 3rd Digital Sports Innovation Development Forum and the 2024 Annual Conference of the Digital Sports Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Technical Economics were successfully concluded on November 2 in Beijing. This forum focused on the theme "New Quality Productive Forces in the Era of AI in Sports," conducting comprehensive and in-depth exchanges, and held a panel on "The Internationalization Path and Opportunities of Chinese Digital Sports."
Li Yewu, Director of the Sports Information Center of the General Administration of Sport, Li Ping, Honorary Chairman and Supervisor of the Chinese Society of Technical Economics, Yang Linyun, Director of the Planning and Standards Department of the Sports Information Center of the General Administration of Sport, and Liu Jinjuan, Deputy Director of the Sports Bureau of Chaoyang District, Beijing, attended the forum.
Experts, scholars, and industry veterans from institutions including the Sports Information Center of the General Administration of Sport, the Chinese Society of Technical Economics, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Science and Technology Daily, Zhijiang Lab, the Chinese Football Association, Beijing Sport University, People's Daily People's Sports, Beijing Radio and Television, China Unicom, Tencent, Sony China, AquaBloom International Sports Technology Group, 828 Jurengang, China Cultural Tourism Industry Group, and MIXTMT, discussed cutting-edge topics on the integration of digital technology and the sports industry from perspectives of technology, economy, management, operations, and scenario-based applications, including new quality productive forces, artificial intelligence, data elements and digital assets, metaverse, and intelligent equipment. They collectively looked forward to the path, opportunities, and challenges of the international development of Chinese digital sports.
The forum invited five speakers to share insights on "New Quality Productive Forces in the Era of AI in Sports." Pei Guanxiong, Deputy Director and Associate Researcher of the Development Strategy and Cooperation Center of Zhijiang Lab, started with the development history and latest progress of artificial intelligence technology, focusing on interpreting the "Olympic AI Agenda" released by the International Olympic Committee this year and looking forward to the future trends of AI+Sports. Pei Guanxiong believes that artificial intelligence, as an important engine of the new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation, is driving various fields, including sports, into a new era of digital and intelligent development.
Li Chengpu, Deputy Director of the Digital Information Department of the Chinese Football Association and Deputy Director of the Digital Sports Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Technical Economics, believes that competitive sports are a natural experimental field for artificial intelligence technology. He combined his work experience to explain the specific application of artificial intelligence technology in the sports industry, especially in the football industry, and introduced the Chinese Football Association's exploration and practice based on AI.
Duan Litao, Associate Researcher at the Institute of Quantitative Economics and Technical Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, started from the logic of data assetization, elaborating on the definition, characteristics, and conditions for value development of data elements and data assets, and gave examples for illustration. The value development of data elements cannot be separated from necessary data technology, appropriate application scenarios, and a complete property rights system. The development prospect of sports data asset value is broad, but there is a fundamental contradiction between the existing property rights system in China and data property rights. The existing system cannot independently support the stable operation of the data element market, and a new property rights system needs to be reconstructed for data.
Zheng Zhao, Manager of the Sports Development Department of Sony (China) Electronic System Headquarters, introduced the application of Sony's high-precision tracking technology in international events. Zheng Zhao said that Sony initially entered the sports industry from the perspective of AI-assisted refereeing and has been widely used in international competitions such as the World Cup and China Open. Next, Sony will bring real-life competitions into the metaverse space, allowing the creation of virtual images to watch games in VR space. Zheng Zhao explained three specific application scenarios explored by Sony: AR broadcast enhancement, arbitrary perspective digital viewing, and IP-driven event transformation, aiming to enrich the fun of sports and attract more young people's attention and participation through a series of imaginative solutions.
Shen Yanfei, Deputy Director of the Digital Sports Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Technical Economics and Vice President of the School of Physical Engineering at Beijing Sport University, deeply analyzed the current situation and future trends of intelligent sports equipment and provided a detailed exposition on the opportunities and challenges it faces. Shen Yanfei emphasized that intelligent sports equipment is experiencing a period of rapid development but also faces many challenges, such as data security and equipment compatibility. In this context, Professor Shen Yanfei called on the industry to have confidence in equipment, data, algorithms, and standards, and to jointly promote the standardization development of Chinese intelligent sports equipment.

By promoting international exchanges and integrating resources related to government, media, technology, academia, and capital markets, a fertile soil conducive to enterprise development is formed. Some platforms are also initiated by retired athletes and others as investors, achieving significant industrial and economic returns. The global capital market is continuing to increase its investment in sports and sports technology, and the value of high-quality sports assets continues to rise, which will inevitably be the trend in China. Hong Kong is a highly internationalized window of China with a unique position that relies on the motherland and connects with the world.
